Prayer
Why this matters for following Jesus
The disciples asked Jesus one thing about how he lived: "teach us to pray." Prayer is how a follower talks with the Father through the Son, in the Spirit, so it shapes every other part of discipleship. It also meets the hardest moments of faith (delay, silence, a "no"), and Jesus himself prayed through them in Gethsemane.

Telling others
Pray by name for the people you want to introduce to Jesus (Col 4:2-4), and offer to pray with a friend who is struggling.

Leonard Ravenhill: Why Revival Tarries (current edition: Bethany House, 2004) ↗first published decades earlier · link only
An English evangelist's forceful call to the church to pray for revival. As publishers and reviewers describe it, he argues that revival is held back by prayerlessness and a lack of holiness, and he writes mainly to ministers and churches. His tone is severe, and not every tradition would agree with every claim; read it beside Scripture.
