The Holy Spirit
Why this matters for following Jesus
Jesus promised his friends another Helper who would be with them, remind them of what he said, and testify about him. Without the Spirit we cannot know Christ as Lord, grow in his character (the fruit of the Spirit), or find power to be his witnesses, as Acts 1:8 says.

Living it out
Each morning ask to be filled with the Spirit (Eph 5:18) and note one place you chose the fruit of the Spirit over the works of the flesh (Gal 5:16-26).
Telling others
The Spirit testifies to Christ and empowers witnesses (John 15:26; Acts 1:8), so pray for words and courage before an ordinary conversation, and test any "word" you receive by what it says about Jesus (1 John 4:1-3).
